Swiss or French, circa 1900. Very fine and rare nickel rounding-up tool. Large crank lever wheel driving the pulley through an intermediate wheel, lever-controlled vertical slide with two knurled stop screws, wheel between turns on a slide cutter with Paul Christen patented micrometric feed (patent number 110303), centering levers, wooden base with additional cutters. Dim. 25 x 16 cm. Good condition. A very well preserved tool. Notes This rounding-up tool is one of the very few examples known to exist with Christen's Micrometric Feed. This system allowed the watchmaker to feed the cutting blade into the gear very accurately, thereby allowing the operator to produce extremely precise gear trains for watches requiring very accurate movements, Observatory trial watches are just one example.
