Very fine and rare 20K gold, silver and enamel half quarter repeating watch with days of the week, date and secret compartment with an ivory miniature portrait of a lady, with a short gold chain and Breguet key, accompanied by a Breguet certificate No. 2533. Notes This watch was sold by Antiquorum in the sale of the Professor Thomas Engel Collection, on November 11, 2001, lot 324. Denis Vladimirovich Davidoff (1781-1839). Davidoff was a military man and a poet, and was a member of the literary club “Arzamas”, along with Prince Peter Viatzemsky, Prince Michael Orlov, Ivan Turgenyev and Vasili Zhukovsky. General Denis Davidoff was a commander of the partisans who defeated Napoleon.
