Brodon, à Paris, circa 1700. Very fine and rare silver single-hand center-wound "oignon" watch. Two-body, "oignon" type, polished, back decorated with concentric circles. White enamel, bold blue Roman numerals, inner half-hour track, center with small painted rosette. Blued steel "fleur-de-lis" hand. 46 mm, hinged, gilt full plate, Egyptian pillars, fusee and chain with chain guard, verge escapement, plain steel balance with flat balance spring, large "oignon" type cock chased with exotic birds and stylized foliage.Signed on the movement.Diam. 56 mm. Notes Brodon. Probably Gilles-Nicolas Brodon, who was the son of a Master watchmaker, admitted in 1684, and cited in 1718.
