Patek, Philippe & Cie. , Genève, No. 112391, case No. 231690, manufactured in 1902 for Diener Hermanos, Mexico. Very fine and rare 18K gold keyless double-train trip minute-repeating watch in Tiffany fitted leather box. Accompanied by the Extract from the Archives. Four-body, "bassine", polished, gold hinged cuvette. White enamel, radial Arabic numerals, outer minute divisions with five-minute red Arabic markers. Gold "Louis XV" hands. Notes Patek Philippe began making double-train trip repeaters around 1900 and continued their production, in very limited quantities, over the next 25 years. Fewer than thirty of them are known. The present watch comes from a series of private label watches, mostly repeaters, made for Shreve, Crump & Low, Boston, Tiffany & Co., and apparently Diener and Hermanos. Of these only the present watch is known to be a trip repeater; all the others are slide-operated.
