Blondeau, horloger Bte du Roi, No. 2360, Rue de la Paix No. 19 à Paris, circa 1820. Fine and rare 20K gold double-train Grande et Petite Sonnerie quarter-repeating clockwatch with visible works. Four-body, "Empire", engine-turned, gold hinged cuvette with winding and setting apertures as well as with grande/petite sonnerie and striking/silent levers. Silver, champlevé radial Roman numerals, outer minute dot divisions, engine turned center. Gold Breguet hands. Notes In the early 19th century, makers began exposing the striking works on the back plate, sometimes skeletonizing the dial as well, so that the process of striking could be admired. Extra care was of course taken with the finishing and polish of the parts thereby exposed.
