Cartwright London, No. 1729, circa 1775. Very fine and rare 18K gold and enamel diamond-set watch with matching chatelaine in original fitted box. Two-body, back centered with a rose-cut diamond, translucent dark blue enamel on engine-turned ground, white enamel border in a repeated dot pattern, bezels in polished gold, chatelaine decorated en suite with laurel wreath decoration to the pendant, three suspensions, two with diamond-set links terminating to a key and a seal, the third later with enamel and pearl-set links. Gold, champlevé radial Roman numerals, outer minute divisions with five-minute Arabic markers on polished cartouches, matte background, center repoussé with foliate scrolls. Blued steel "beetle and poker" hands. 23 mm, frosted gilt full plate with cylindrical pillars, fusee and chain, converted to lateral lever with maintaining power, plain steel balance with flat balance spring, single-footed cock.Movement signed.Diam. 32 mm, length with chatelaine 178 mm.
