Adam and Eve Swiss. Produced 1810. Fine and very rare, double dial, painted on enamel calendar, animated Adam and Eve 18K gold watch with visible balance. Two-body, glazed on both sides, polished. White enamel with eccentric Breguet hour chapter set in the lower part, subsidiary date dial to the left, days of the week to the right, top with aperture for the spinning gold balance. Gold “Breguet” hands. Reverse: center painted on enamel with Eve giving the apple to Adam with an animated snake revolving around them, 7 subsidiary dials for age and phases of the moon, hours of the sunrise and sunset, number of days in a current month, length ofay and night and current Zodiac position. 53 mm, hinged, frosted gilt, full-plate with cylindrical pillars, fusée and chain, cylinder escapement, ogival 3-arm gold balance with flat balance spring, small cock.Diam. 50 mm. Notes Adam and Eve watches are rare, and ones with astronomical indications are particularly rare. This watch is also interesting from a technical point of view, as it applies Breguet’s overhanging cylinder mounting for the spinning balance and features a cylinder escapement instead of the then still popular verge.
