Mother and Daughter Godemars (Geneva), enamel from the workshop of J-L. Richter, made for the Chinese market circa 1800. Very fine and rare 18K gold and painted on enamel, pearl-set pendant watch. Four-body, "Empire", by "GC", No. 7483, the back painted on enamel depicting a mother with her daughter who is holding grapes, in the manner of Louise Vigée-Lebrun (1755-1842), reeded band, half-pearl set bezels. 18K gold, guilloché in the center with two crossed rifles radial Roman numerals. Gold Breguet hands. 38 mm (17’’’), frosted gilt, 8 jewels, cylinder escapement, three-arm gilt balance with flat balance spring. Signed on the cuvette.Diam. 47 mm. Notes The same scene, probably executed by the same artist, is found on the famous pair of amphoras, one of which is in the Patek Philippe Museum. The other, in a private collection, was sold by Antiquorum on April 13, 2002, lot 607, for 4,018,500 Swiss francs, a record price for an object de vertu.
