Attributed to Atelier Albert Prévost, Paris, No. 28920, circa 1928. Very fine and attractive small 18K gold, black onyx and enamel, diamond-set, eight-day going Art Deco desk clock. In original morocco fitted box. Two-body, rectangular, decorated with black and red cham-plevé enamel in geometrical pattern, small onyx base and top with applied diamond-set initials "GC". Silver, square, cham-plevé Arabic numerals, inner minute divisions. Blued steel pointed hands. Rectangular, 34 x 24 mm, rhodium-plated, decorated with parallel damascening pattern, going barrel, 15 jewels, straight line lever escapement, cut-bimetallic compensation balance with Breguet balance spring.Case punched with serial number and engraved "Made in France", the movement signed Majestic Watch Co.Dim. 52 x 28 mm. Notes Lots 133, 134 and 135 typify the designs used by Cartier in the late 1920s and early 1930s. Identical clocks are illustrated by Hans Nadelhoffer in his "Cartier" book, Paris, 1984. All the major Parisian jewelers called on the Prévost workshop for the design and execution of their most magnificent desk clocks. The movements were supplied mostly by Majestic Watch Co.
