Chinese, 20th century. Matched pair of black lacquered, parcel gilt and chinoiserie decorated open armchairs, each chair with pagoda-style cresting over a shaped solid splat decorated with architecture, rockwork, foliage and figures, some of portion raised, the ears, stiles and arms decorated with parcel gilt diaper work, the trapezoidal seat covered with green satin with floral embroidery and raised on square legs united by an H-shaped stretcher. Approximate height 43.5", width 22.5" (arm to arm), seat depth 18.5", seat height 19".
