Frix Lieutaud a Aix (France), No. 352, circa 1760. Very fine 18K gold quarter-repeating à toc watch in early engine-turned case. Two-body, Louis XV, by “ADV”, the back engine-turned in a wave pattern with each row indexed, giving a spiral impression, bezel en suite. White enamel, Roman numerals, outer minute divisions with five-minute Arabic markers, winding aperture at 2 o’clock. Gold “Louis XV” hands. 39 mm, hinged, frosted gilt full-plate with cylindrical pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement, 3-arm steel balance with flat balance-spring, adjustable potence, continental cock decorated with crosshatch pattern fitted with endstone, repeating on gold blocks by depressing the pendant.Signed on the movement and the dial.Diam. 46 mm.
