The Harp Geneva, attributable to Piguet et Capt, Geneva, circa 1805. Very fine and rare 18K gold and enamel diamond and pearl-set musical harp. Accompanied by later morocco fitted box. Front of the soundboard painted on enamel with an allegory of Music, the sides with an applied gold allegory of Love within pearl-set frames on translucent Imperial blue enamel over flinqué background, the pegs for the gold strings set with diamonds, the column and the capital in champlevé enamel terminated with pearl-set rosette, safety catch to prevent accidental opening of the musical movement. Trapezoidal, gilt full plate, circular pillars, barillet type with five teeth, five-wheel train, interesting speed regulation by means of a small pin protruding through the case, changing position of the last pinion bushing.Dim. 75 x 44 mm. Notes This is a fine example of the musical objects of vertu Geneva was famous for in the early nineteenth century. A very similar harp with an almost identical movement is in the Schweizerisches Landesmuseum, Seewen, inv. LM 71523.
