“Monochrome Pink” Patek Philippe & Cie, Genève, No. 862608, case No. 623880, Ref. 1506. Retailed by Hausmann & Co. Roma. Produced and sold in 1941. Exceptionally rare, fine and large, 18K pink gold gentleman's wristwatch with square button chronograph, register, tachometer and an 18K pink gold Patek Philippe buckle. Accompanied by the Extract from the Archives. Three-body, solid, polished, flat bezel, straight, lapidated and curved lugs. Pink with applied pink gold bâton indexes and Roman numerals, subsidiary sunk seconds and 30-minute register dials, outer 1/5th second scale, outermost tachometer graduation in blue Arabic numerals. Pink gold "bâton" hands. Notes Among all Patek Philippe chronographs, Ref. 1506 is surely the rarest and therefore the least well-known. Of an extra- large size for the time, with straight lugs decorated by three facets, only three examples are known to date; two in pink gold with pink dial, and one in yellow gold. Of the three, the present watch is the one in the most original condition. An identical watch is illustrated in “Patek Philippe, Wristwatches” by Martin Huber and Alan Banbery, second edition, p. 267.
