Ge. Achard Père & Fils, Genève, No. 16261, circa 1800. Very fine and very rare 18K gold double-train grande et petite sonnerieclockwatch with trip quarter repeating and automaton Jacks. Double-body, polished with pierced fluted band. Eccentric white enamel with Breguet numerals, outer minute track. Blued-steel"spade" hands with gold tips. Dark blue enamel dial plate with ramolayé laurel branches, above the dial small varicolored gold CupidJacks striking and repeating the hours and quarters on two bells. Notes Georges Achard the son of François, born in Aouste Dauphiné, France. A Master watchmaker, he was in partnership with his brother Jean-François until 1796, making complicated enameled watches. The two brothers separated, and on April 15, 1796 Georges registered a company called Achard & Cie. Soon afterwards, the company became known as G. Achard et Fils.
