Alexandre, Paris, circa 1700. Very fine ormolu-mounted brown tortoiseshell and brass Boulle marquetry hour and half-hour striking, quarter-repeating bracket clock with original bracket. Typical form with arched cornice surmounted by ormolu statue of an angel blowing a trumpet, ormolu border, raised on a flaredrectangular base with ormolu figure of Euterpe, the Muse of the Music, on ormolu bracket feet; the whole veneered in marquetry in brass on grounds of red tortoiseshell forming bell flowers, strapwork and foliate scrolls, base and back panel with en suit marquetry, matching bracket. Ormolu with white enamelled cartouches with radial Roman numerals, outer minutes with every minute numbered, chased and engraved foliate scroll center. Well-pierced steel hands. Rectangular, 147 x 130 mm, brass, verge escapement, steel rod pendulum with silksuspension, count wheel on the back plate,pull-repeat mechanism, striking and repeating on three bells.Signed Alexandre A Paris on back plate, St. Martin, A Paris on the dial.Dim.
