Recordon From London, No. 13486, Swiss, made for the Islamic market circa 1825. Very fine 18K gold and painted on enamel quarter-repeating watch in Breguet style, with ruby duplex escapement. Four-body, back painted on enamel with scientific instruments on translucent green enamel background, black enamel border decorated with gold foliage, bezels in black enamel with white enamel geometrical pattern, gold hinged cuvette. White enamel, Islamic numerals, outer minute divisions, subsidiary sunk seconds. Gold Breguet hands. Notes Louis Recordon 1756-1826 A watchmaker originally from Sainte-Croix who settled first in Geneva and then in London, he was Breguet’s friend and agent in England. As such he was responsible for selling approximately 75 Breguet watches to the British, including some to the British Monarchy.
