Helen Saved from Aeneas by Venus Abraham Colomby, Genève, No. 2029, circa 1760. Very fine 20K gold pair-cased repoussé pocket watch, made for the Dutch market. Outer: two-body, back repoussé with a scene depicting Venus restraining her son Aeneas from killing Helen, rocaille bezels. Gold, champlevé radial Roman numerals, half-hour divisions, outer arched minute divisions with five-minute Arabic markers on small polished cartouches. Gilt “Louis XV” hands. Notes The following two lots are in a remarkably original state of preservation. The repoussé scenes are executed by soldering sections together to give an impression of depth. Very rarely does one find repoussé work with such depth of contour and in such good condition.
