Hamburg, No. 760, circa 1870. Fine two-day marine chronometer with 56-hour power reserve indicator. Three-body, with flushed brass handles, corners protected by heavy brass inlay, the glazed upper section with hinged lid. Brass bowl and gimballed suspension. Silvered with Roman numerals, outer minute ring, subsidiary seconds and up-and-down scale. Gilt “spade” hands. 82 mm, gilt brass full plate with baluster pillars secured by screws, 11 jewels, fusee with chain and maintaining power, spring detent escapement, two-arm bimetallic compensation balance with cylindrical weights and two mean time adjusting nuts, free sprung blued steel helical balance spring with terminal curves, diamond endstone.Signed on dial, numbered on ivory plaque on the front panel.Dim. Bowl 115 mm., box 19.5 x 19 x 19 cm. Notes Willem Bröcking Was a well known chronometer maker located in Adolph Platz in Hamburg. In 1862 he invented an interesting double dialed astronomical clock. In 1865 he became member of the British horological Institute.
