Unsigned, Swiss, circa 1800. "Le doux serment" Very fine 18K gold and enamel pearl-set watch. Double body, Directoire, the bezel with a gold paionne floral decoration over a black ground, the back enamel panel painted with a very fine scene depicting a soldier and a maiden taking an oath on the split-pearl inlaid altar of Love. White enamel with Roman numerals. Gold arrow hands. Hinged gilt brass, flat calibre with fusee and barrel passing through the back plate and secured by a half-moon bridge, verge escapement, plain brass three-arm balance, flat balance spring, gilt brass continental cock with polished steel end-piece. In very good condition. Diam. 53 mm.
