Unsigned, probably Bovet, Fleurier, Swiss, made for the Chinese Market, circa 1860. Two very similar silver centre second watches in a red leather fitted box with spare glasses. Three body, "Chinese" with fixed bezels, polished. Hinged glazed silver cuvettes. White enamel, one with Arabic numerals, the other with Roman numerals. Blued steel "spade" hands. Gilt brass, Chinese calibres with free standing barrels fully engraved with scrolled foliage and further decoration, lateral lever escapements, one with threearm balance with wedge shaped and partly blued steel weights, the other with two-arm brass balance with screws, flat balance springs and regulators. Both with the "Twelve Petal Lotus Flower", reputed to be the trademark of Bovet, engraved inside the back, but without any signature. In very good condition. Diam. both 55 mm.
