Breguet No. 2846, sold to the Prince Frederic- Guillaume-Louis de Prusse, second son of the King, on 3 May 1814, for 1248 Francs. Fine 18K gold, quarter repeating watch. Three body, "forme quatre baguettes", by Amy Gros, with reeded band and polished back. Gold cuvette. White enamel with Breguet numerals. Blued steel Breguet hands. 19- , bar caliber, with free standing barrel, overhanging ruby cylinder escapement, with pare-chute suspension, blued steel flat balance spring. Repeating on gongs by depressing the pendant. Signed on the cuvette. Accompanied by Breguet certificate No. 3998. Diam. 49 mm. Notes History: This watch was bought back on 2 June 1814, resold to London in August 1814 to Count Orloff, for the sum of 1200 Francs. Bought back on 26 May 1815. Sent to Fatton on 30 May 1815. Frederic William Louis W (1795-1861) King of Prussia. Born in Berlin on 15 October 1795, he grew up to be a romantic but indecisive man. His accession to the throne in 1840 was greeted with enthusiasm as a result of his promise to introduce reforms; a commitment he did not uphold, the result being a revolt in 1848. Forced to enact a more liberal constitution, he then continued to modify the terms, refusing to accept the Imperial Crown offered to him by the Frankfurt Assembly in 1849, preferring the politics of a "Little Germany" as proposed by his minister Radewitz.
