French, Royal exchange, No. 10928, with London hallmarks for 1846. Very fine small 18K gold hunting cased, quarter repeating watch with special escapement. Four body, massive, "demi-bassine et filets " by Louis Comptesse (Master marks), engine-turned with reeded band, the cover engraved en reserve with a monogram, and inside with a dedication dated 1848. Hinged gold cuvette. Silver engine-turned with Roman numerals, sunk subsidiary seconds, cast gold foliage decoration, the centre engraved with flowers.
