Unsigned, Swiss, circa 1840. Fine eight day going hour and half hour striking clock painting. Gilt wood framed oil on canvas, featuring a Swiss lanscape, a church on the right, the clock on the belltower. Painted white chapter ring with Roman numerals and dark blue centre. Gilt brass hands. Brass circular with going barrels both for the going and the striking trains, anchor escapement, pendulum with silk suspension. Striking on a gong. Dim. 69 x 79 cm. Notes The quality of the painting is far better than is usually the case on most clock paintings of this type.
