Charles Balthazar a Paris, No. 365, certainly produced in Friedberg (Germany), for the French Market, circa 1760. Fine silver pair cased pull wind, quarter repeating and quarter striking coach-watch with alarm. Double body chagrin covered outer case, pierced for the sound, the hole with silver roundels. Double body silver inner, polished and pierced with foliage. Silver champleve with Roman numerals and outer Arabic minute ring with arched divisions, centre revolving alarm setting disc. Blued steel Louis XIV hands. Hinged gilt brass full plate, with pierced and engraved gilt brass pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement, plain brass three-arm balance, flat balance spring, gilt brass English style cock, pierced and engraved with a mask and foliage. Pull wind quarter repeating, striking and alarm on a bell, with independent trains for quarters and hours, both with engraved gilt brass fixed barrels and revolving arbors. Diam. 130 mm.
