Fine and rare mahogany two-day marine chronometer with double barrels and waterproof bowl. (Later) three body, solid mahogany box with hinged sprung loaded observation panel in the lid, External brass handles and fittings, oval gimbal ring. Cylindrical brass bowl, the eccentric bezel secured by screws with cork washer, locked as required in the horizontal position by a triangular pivoted frame beneath, raised by a thumb-key. Aperture in the bezel for winding. Matted silvered small eccentric with Roman numeral and outer minute ring, subsidiary seconds below. Blued steel "pear" hands. Brass plates, bridge calibre with two barrels simultaneously wound by means of an intermediate gear, separately mounted platform No. 76 with spring detent escapement, bimetallic two-arm compensation balance, free sprung blued steel helical balance spring with terminal curves. Dial diam. 75 mm. Notes The movement of this chronometer is contained in a cylindrical brass bowl with moisture protection provided by cork gaskets and the screw-Pitted bezel.
