James Mc Cabe, Royal Exchange, London, No. 2885, 3rd quarter 19th century. Very fine, small gilt brass, eight day going, hour striking and repeating carriage clock with original key. Gilt brass, glazed three sides and top, repeat button. Silvered brass with Roman chapters and subsidiary seconds. Blued steel " fleur-de-lys" hands. Brass rectangular, fusees and chains to both trains, maintaining power on going side. Platform lever escapement underslung, single roller, pointed-tooth wheel, plain brass balance, flat balance spring, ruby end-stone to balance cock, strike/silent. Signed on dial and movement. In very good condition Dim. 16 x 10 x 8 cm. excluding the handle.
