Louis Majorelle (French, Nancy 1859-1926), circa 1900. A large and important Majorelle buffet deux corps, display cabinet, china cabinet, or breakfront with exquisite Art Nouveau burled walnut veneered panels and glass insets, the upper section comprising a veneered central panel over glass display shelves with stunning central coral mottled glass inset panel iridized with spattered opalescence behind the wrought iron decorative grapevine motif comprising leaves, grapes, and stylized scroll vines, flanked by two side display cabinets with conforming central wrought iron scroll decoration opening to inteerior with three glass shelves, the central cabinets with arched apron corners decorated with carved Art Nouveau stylized grapevine motifs, over a paneled backboard with moldings decorated with veneered panel above the lower section with bar surface over two frieze drawers over doors separated by central carved Art Nouveau stylized grape and leaf motifs characteristic of the La Vigne pattern, flanked by projecting side doors with top sections displaying conforming La Vigne carved motifs, each door and drawer of the lower section decorated with a burled walnut veneered panel, overall raised on four arched feet. Approximate height 88.25", width 88", depth 21.5".
