Cartier Paris, No. 2890, circa 1930. Very fine and rare, small, "Pendule Ecran" silver gilt and 18K gold, lacquer, mother-of-pearl and onyx Art- Deco eight day going table clock. Designed as a vertical pane flanked by two rows of coral lacquered cylinders and mounted between two arches on a rectangular onyx base with black lacquered frame, the black lacquered band with lateral mother-of-pearl plaque. Made from a Chinese 19th century lacquered panel with inlaid mother-of-pearl marquetry of Chinese warriors. Applied diamond set chapter ring with Roman numerals. Diamond-set hands. Notes Inspired by Oriental screens, this form of clock, designed by Cartier in 1923, was chosen for the third type of Mystery clocks. Seven variants were produced by 1928, and it was later developed up to 1954.
