Fine 18K gold and enamel mounted blood-stone keyless dress watch, presented in 1932 by Mr. William Randolph Hearst to Dr. Crile, from the Cleveland Clinic, in token of his esteem. One piece blood-stone with blue enamelled gold bezel and triangular bow. Matted silver with Roman numerals. Blued steel Breguet hands. Cleveland: (.CF 1996, page 91, this watch was presented as a token of his esteem, by Mr. William Randolph Hearst, the celebrated publisher of sensationalist newspapers, to Dr. Crile, at the depth of the Depression, following his stay at the clinic accompanied by his mistress, the actr ess Marion Davies, and her poodle.
