J. A. & S.S. Virgin (American (Macon, Georgia), active c.1834-c.1857). A pre-Confederate States coin silver presentation cup by jeweler and silversmith brothers Jonathan A. Virgin and Samuel S. Virgin, their store located in Concert Hall, No. 3 Cotton Avenue, Macon, Georgia, the cylindrical form cup with repousse and chased decoration to body of scrolls and flowers surrounding an inscription to front "Presented to Harriet P. Goodwin by a Friend", with double scrolled handle to one side of body and beaded bands at mouth and foot. Marked to underside "J.A. & S.S. Virgin". Approximate height 4", width over handle 4.25". Total approximate weight 5.49 troy ounces.
