A. Golay Leresche, Geneve, No. 1184, circa 1840. Very fine and unusual 18K gold snuff box with built.- in concealed watch. Three body, oval with scalloped band, fully engraved en taille douce with flowers and foliage, the hinged lid with a spring loaded cover disclosing the watch, engraved with a pastoral scene. White enamel with Roman numerals. Blued-steel "spade" hands. Rectangular gilt brass, the ebauche by J. Gallay, Geneve with parallel bridges, 10 jewels, cylinder escapement, plain brass three-arm balance, flat balance spring with regulator. Signed on the gold dial plate. Dim: 64 x 54 x 33 mm. Notes The lid of this snuff box is so well made that it is almost i mpossible to tell that it holds a watch. Gallay Jean, Geneva. Dealer and maker of clocks and watches, was working in Geneva at the 2, rue du Mont Blanc, in a shop which is today Antiquorum Geneva.
