Collection of Eighteen Snuff Boxes and a Match Safe, England and Continental, 18th/19th century, sixteen lacquered papier-mache boxes including six with hand-painted figures or designs, four with transfer-decoration, three with inlaid decoration: one shoe-form with pewter inlay, one round ivory box with a portrait of a lady wearing a feathered hat painted on the top, one rectangular with pewter inlay, another with abalone inlay; one box made of burl, and one of rosewood set with a pewter plaque; and a sterling silver hinged match safe with a diaphanous clothed figure of a woman in relief ornamenting one side, (imperfections), dia. 2 to 3 7/8 in.
