American, 1870s. Mahogany and mahogany veneer, white marble. A Renaissance Revival style parlor, side or occasional table, the oval top comprising an inset marble surface within a molded conforming mahogany frame, the frieze decorated with rectangular veneer panels punctuated by round knobs, resting on the intricately formed base comprising a central turned shaft with decorative geometrical incisions and base urn and ball finial, on four projecting legs with urn finials joined to table tope by carved raking stiles, over circular knees with incised pinwheel carvings and central knobs, the legs decorated with rectangular flame mahogany veneer panels, on flattened toupie form feet with incised line decoration and turned knobs, raised on casters.
