Octavo, first edition, collated, complete, with blanks, a large copy, 6 3/4 x 4 1/4 in., with several contemporary signatures on ffep and title, and contemporary scholarly notes on a few pages in the text; bound in limp period parchment, detached from the textblock, parchment rumpled and dirty, contents good. Scaliger's edition of the relatively recently discovered Catulls, Tibullus and Propertius manuscripts established a rational approach to classical scholarship that shares more with the scientific method than the practices that preceded it. His work is still valued today. Collated, complete, including blanks, last signature has six leaves.
