Samuel Ruel Enameled Pair Case Watch, Rotterdam, No. 378, c. 1715, the outer snakeskin case opens to the gilt champleve dial with Roman numerals on a matted ground with figural enameled center, fully enameled inner case by Les deux freres Huaud and so marked on the lower rim, enameled rim, exterior and interior surfaces, gilt full plate verge fusee movement signed Samuel Ruel/Rotterdam/N. 378 , "faux pendulum" balance within a finely chased balance cock depicting two seated figures, blued steel pierced regulating hand and "pine tree" pillars, dia. 46 mm. Overall fine condition, watch movement nicely cleaned and runs with little winding, lacking rear crystal over back enameled surface.
