First edition, illustrated with forty-nine full-page color portraits of Blackfeet Indians by Reiss, in original decorative publisher's boards and dust jacket, inscribed by both the author and illustrator to O.J. Kadlec on the front free endleaf, two of the portrait subjects have also signed in the text with pictographic signatures in ink: Short Man, Pecunnie Indian sign-language expert (page 45), and Yellow Head, of the Montana Blackfeet (page 22).
