Van Buren, Martin (1782-1862) Autograph Letter Signed, London, 8 December 1831. Bifolium, laid, watermarked paper, two and a half pages inscribed. To Elijah Hayward (1786-1864) as Commissioner of the General Land Office while Van Buren served as U.S. Minister to the United Kingdom, both under Andrew Jackson, recommending a book, and sharing good will. Clean, with old folds, 7 3/4 x 9 3/4 in. folded.
