Mahogany Patent Timepiece or "Banjo" Clock Attributed to Sawin & Dyer, Boston, c. 1825, painted iron dial with Roman numerals, unusual ebonized frames with cast brass rosettes and gilt rope moldings enclosing reverse-paintings on glass, the waist marked Willard's Patent , the lower section with a pastoral scene and river, brass side ornaments and gilded and ebonized lower pedestal, eight-day time-only movement with pendulum and lead weight, ht. 40 in. Waist glass fractured in lower section now professionally restored, original lower glass with outer creme colored border repainted, dial, case surface, gilding and ebonized paint are undisturbed, original weight, key and all other mechanical components.
