Chinese, Kangxi Period mark (1662-1722), 20th century. A pair of large porcelain covered temple jars with Famille Rose hand painted enamel decoration, the high shouldered vessels with four canted corners to body creating four wide planes each decorated with a phoenix or five-clawed dragon in flight amid cloud scrolls and set above stylized waves within a shaped cartouche, these figural cartouches set to a ground of yellow filled with bright pink chrysanthemum blossoms surrounded by tiny white flower buds, the foot and shoulder with bands of geometric patterning, and the tapered paneled lids with auspicious symbols or precious objects to each side and topped with a figural fu dog finial standing on four feet. Underside with six character iron red Kangxi imperial reign mark. Approximate overall height 21.5", diameter 10" square.
