Paul César Helleu (French, 1859-1927) Mademoiselle Ellen Helleu, c. 1896, edition probably of around 10. Signed "Helleu" in pencil l.l. and in red pencil l.r., identified on a fragmentary label from Frederick Keppel, New York, on the backing. Drypoint on paper, plate size 9 1/8 x 8 3/4 in. (23.2 x 22.0 cm), framed. Condition: Toning, mat burn, several fox marks, not examined out of frame. Out of the frame the sheet is laid aper with a "J. Bonichet" watermark and measures 15 3/4 x 11 5/8 in. All of the edges are deckled except for the lower edge. There are various lines of mat burn, and the sheet is toned.
