Dr. William Abraham Bell (American, 1841-1920) Cañon of Kanab Wash, Colorado River, Looking South, plate 4 from the EXPLORATIONS & SURVEYS WEST OF THE 100th MERIDIAN; EXPEDITION OF 1872. Identified within the text surrounding the image, stamp and inscription from the Southwest Museum, Inc., on the reverse. Albumen print on paperboard, sheet size 19 7/8 x 16 in. (50.4 x 40.5 cm), framed. Condition: Toning, mat burn, soiling, unobtrusive scattered rubs to surface of image, scattered tape residue, rubs and thinning along the edges, annotations to margins, creases and nicks to edges of board. Provenance: From the collection of Austin Lamont, by family descent. Out of the frame the support measure 20 x 16 in., and has publication information printed on it There is minor discoloring over all. There are pencil annotations and areas of glue residue to the left margin. There are minor printing imperfections (perhaps dust and/or scratches to the negative?). Print is drymounted to backing mat.
