Lou Stoumen (American, 1917-1991) Times Square, 1939. Signed "Lou Stoumen" in pencil on the mat l.r., titled and dated on the mat. Gelatin silver print, image/sheet size 19 7/8 x 15 7/8 in. (50.4 x 40.3 cm), matted, unframed. Condition: Tape, tape residue, and losses to edges. Provenance: Estate of an arts benefactor, New York. The work is unmounted, but is held to a backing mat by strips of white adhesive tape along the edges of the face of the sheet. Some of these have loosened leaving residue and/or creating minute losses.
