Paul Starrett Sample (American, 1896-1974) The Trout Stream, Early Spring Signed "PAUL SAMPLE" l. r., identified on the artist's label and a label from Vose Galleries of Boston, affixed to the backing. Watercolor on paper, sight size 13 1/2 x 19 1/4 in. (34.3 x 48.9 cm), framed. Condition: Not examined out of frame. Sheet size is 14 1/4 x 20 in. Pencil crop lines along each edge, 1/4 or 3/8 in. in from the sides. Masking tape remnant along entire bottom edge, 1/4 in. wide. No abrasions evident. Small white areas in c.l. are natural contours in the paper surface. Mild toning and soiling to the reverse.
