Frederick Knecht Detwiller (American, 1882-1953) The Moorings Signed "FKDetwiller' l. l., identified on a presentation plaque, monogrammed, inscribed, and dated "...N.H. Maine,/Aug. 11 '35" on the reverse, identified on a handwritten label and on a label from the Salmagundi Club affixed to the stretcher, and with the artist's address label affixed to the back of the frame. Oil on canvas, 14 1/4 x 21 1/4 in. (36.2 x 54.0 cm), framed. Condition: Possible retouch to sky, natural pigment fluorescence, craquelure, minor canvas deformation.
