Jade-inlaid Carved Wood Ruyi Scepter, China, the arched body finely carved in high relief with Immortals and attendants in a landscape with pines, the top end inset with a quatrefoil jade plaque of gray-white color, further inset with turquoise, amber, jadeite, lapis lazuli, malachite, soapstone, and other semi-precious stones with a scene of scholars gathering under a gnarled pine tree, the jade in the middle section decorated en suite with a lone scholar, and the jade in the bottom end with an attendant holding a zither, lg. 18 3/4, jade plaques 3 3/8 x 2 3/4, 3 1/4 x 1 5/8, 2 x 1 7/8 in.
