Pair of Carved and Polychrome Painted Wood Figural Stands, Continental, 19th century, each carved and painted as a Chinaman kneeling on a cushion and balancing a mirrored tray on his head, using an arm to steady himself, each in patterned dress and with long braids, one with horsehair moustache, the other with metal hoop earring, on square pedestal bases with canted corners, ht. to 31 in. Both with scattered chips, loss, and cracks. Moustached man with 2 1/2 in. area of loss to front of cushion. Earringed man with repairs to face and two deep gouges, one to sleeve of left arm, and one to back of pedestal.
