Two Whimsical Figural Metal Desk Articles, late 19th century, comprising a bronze inkwell formed as a monkey chef standing by a stove set with four gold painted pot lids covering inkwells, one hinged at stovetop, the other hinged at the monkey's elbow, on base accented with other pots and scattered vegetables, ht. 5 1/4, lg. 7 1/4, wd. 4 1/4; and a spelter match holder formed as a bear striking a bass drum and a pair of cymbals, on round slate base, ht. 4 3/4 in. bear lacking lid to drum, and with some corrosion at base of drum from matches; light crack starting at stem of drumstick. monkey somewhat bear or wolf-like in appearance; minor age wear.
