Pair of Minton Porcelain Thornwaldsen Cache Pots on Stands, England, c. 1870, each square with alternating caryatid and Atlas figural corners and paneled sides with gilded trim and bleu celeste ground surrounding polychrome enameled roundels, two with birds, one with agricultural tools, and another with musical instruments, printed marks, overall ht. 11 1/2 in. Literature: Illustrated in Minton - The First Two Hundred Years of Design and Production , by Joan Jones, p. 64. Cache pots: One with a scrolled foot broken off and simply glued; one with a 4 3/8" hairline running down the center of one panel, mostly visible from the inside. Stands: One with several chips to the shell corners ranging from minimal to 5/8", 1/2" chip to the side foliage of one foot; one with several chips to the shell corners ranging from minimal to 1/2"; slight flake and 1/4" shallow chip to the edges of a foot.
