Whimsical Cottage-form Faux Grained and Bone-accented Cigar Box, Central or Northern Europe, late 19th century, the square cottage with peaked roof with central bone chimney, accented with carved bone Gothic arch windows and a door to front, the front cornice with Vitruvian scroll and trefoil gingerbread trim, the sides with vertical bone strapwork, front set with two small barrel-form match wells, hinged lid opening to interior segmented for cigars, ht. 7, wd. to 7 1/4, dp. 8 in. some loss/lifting to grain painting at front "porch". losses to carved bone gingerbread trim. likely lacking decorative trim to corners of interior segmenting.
