Carl Kauba (Austrian/American, 1865-1922), "The Vase Fairy", c. 1900, signed and inscribed Geschutz, 4889, gilt-bronze, the semi-nude bacchante clinging to a swirling vase applied with tendrils, ht. 5 1/8 in. For a similar example, see Berman, Harold, Bronzes: Sculptors & Founders , Chicago, Illinois, 1976, volume II, page 413, number 1568, illustrated. Rubbing to breasts and trunk as well as vase, down to the bronze; very good casting.
